550 Water St, Santa Cruz

While named after Frank Lloyd Wright, the complex at 550 Water Street was, in fact, designed Mr. Wright’s by his protege, Aaron Green in 1962.

The complex is home to 400,000 square feet of medical and professional offices. The emphasis on geometric forms, as seen in the wooden window covers, accent the wings that flare out from the corner buildings.

Amidst each office complex you will find a hidden garden, which was classic for Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired architecture.

Aaron Green collaborated with Wright on over 30 projects up and down the West coast culminating with the Marin Civic Center off the 101 freeway. He died on June 5, 2001 at the age of 84.

Midtown Optometry is proud to call 550 Water St home.
